Pokemon of the Week: Snubbull

It seems that the folks at Niantic (the company that started Pokemon GO) launch their special events on Thursdays. I caught a few new Pokemon yesterday, including an adorable one that resembles a pink bulldog: Snubbull.

I caught Snubbull yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.

This pocket monster was easy to capture--I only had to throw a couple of Pokeballs to catch it. Snubbull is a Fairy-type of Pokemon, and its weaknesses are poison and steel. Although it is a cute pokemon, Snubbull uses intimidation to scare its opponents. Snubbull's other strengths are running away and stamina. Eventually, Snubbull can evolve into Granbull.

Also, there is another event going on in Pokemon GO: Adventure Week! Look for extra rock-type Pokemon and other cool bonuses (like a hat for your avatar) going on now through May 25.

Have a great weekend and happy Pokemon hunting!

Pokemon of the Week: Skarmony

Hello! It was a beautiful holiday weekend for Pokémon GO. I hope you were able to catch a lot of Pokemon. You may know this already, but there is a Pokemon GO Easter event happening now through April 20. It's called an "Eggstravaganza Event."  Lucky Eggs in the shop are on sale, there are better Pokemon hatched through the 2 km (green) eggs, and double XP.

The Pokemon of the week is Skarmony. It is made of steel, and as you can see here, Skarmony is a flying pokemon.

Have an eggcellent week! (Couldn't resist.) The weather should be great for catching Pokemon.

Pokemon of the Week: Fiesta Pikachu!

If you have been playing Pokemon GO recently, you may have noticed that there is a Fiesta Pikachu running around. It's an elusive little pocket monster; it's taken me three days to finally catch it for Instagram and for this blog post! How fitting that Pikachu is jumping up and down for joy here; I felt the same way when I caught it!

The reason Niantic created Fiesta Pikachu is that late February was Pokemon's 20th anniversary, and Pikachu was (and is) one of the main characters in Pokemon. Pikachu is an electric pokemon, and uses thundershock and discharge for combat.  I wonder if Fiesta Pikachu is evolved to Raichu that the hat stays? (Santa Hat Pokemon evolved with the hat, so I am inclined to think so.)

Have a good week!  I hope you are able to catch Fiesta Pikachu!

Pokemon of the Week: Hoppip

Hello!

I caught this cute Pokemon on February 17. Hoppip is one of the new Pokemon, and it is both a grass and a flying Pokemon. It uses tackle and grass knot to defeat and defend opponents. According to Pokevolver.com,  Hoppip will evolve into Skiploom and Jumpluff.  I'm looking forward to catching and evolving Skiploom and Jumpluff!

Pokemon of the Week: Swinub

Hello!
Although it feels like spring, it is still technically winter, so it makes sense to feature a wintry type of Pokemon this week.  Swinub is one of the 80 new Pokemon that was launched last week. Swinub uses tackle and icy wind to defeat opponents at the Pokegyms.  Here is one of the Swinub I captured last week.

Like many Pokemon, Swinub is also an evolving Pokemon.  It will evolve into Piloswine, and then Mamoswine. I am looking forward to finding and evolving Swinub!

Pokemon GO of the Week: Hoothoot

Happy Friday!

I, like many devoted Pokemon players, anxiously awaited for the updates to Pokemon GO. As promised, the folks at Niantic promised diehard players like me that there will be up to 80 new Pokemon to catch.

Yesterday, they delivered on their promise. I noticed several shadowy Pokemon and new features added to the game. I haven't discovered them all yet, but one feature is that you can find Pineapple Berries to feed to Pokemon to make them drop more candy.

The first newer Pokemon I captured is Hoothoot. Owls are cute, and Hoothoot is no exception. It took about three or four Pokeballs to catch Hoothoot. This pokemon will eventually evolve into Noctowl. I think it will be a hoot to catch more pokemon! (Couldn't resist.) Enjoy!

Pokemon GO of the Week: Oddish

Happy Wednesday! I was watering the plants in the library today. It is nice to see green plants this time of year. I thought about Oddish, the featured Pokémon of the week.  Oddish is a blue plant-like creature with green and yellow leaves. Oddish is a grass and poison Pokémon, and uses Acid and Moonblast to defeat its opponents in the Pokegym.

Eventually, the Oddish can evolve into Gloom. Like Oddish, Gloom is also a grass and poison Pokémon, but it has lost its plant-like cuteness. Gloom is still blue, but its head is covered with orange and white spotty mushrooms with orange leaves. There is also drool on the corners of its mouth. Gloom uses Razor Leaf and Petal Blizzard to defeat its opponents.

Finally, Gloom evolves into a creature called Vileplume. (I don't have one of these Pokémon yet.) Like Oddish and Gloom, Vileplume is blue. It has a smile (thankfully, no more drool) and a pinkish-looking flower on its head. Beware, though, that the flower gives off a putrid smell. Vileplume uses
Mega Drain and Mega Petal (among others) to defeat opponents.

Pokemon of the Week: Venonat

Hi!
Happy Teen Read Week!

The Pokémon of the week is Venonat. This Pokémon is fairly common, and shows up fairly often. It is also fairly easy to catch.  Eventually, the Venonat will evolve into a lovely Venomoth.
