Patron Reader's Advisory: Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book

One of the many things I love about librarianship is reader's advisory. It's so much fun to talk shop (books) at the desk. It's fun when patrons give me reading recommendations!

So, I picked up this YA treasure from our collection. It's a good story by Neil Gaiman. Basically, the main character named Nobody is raised in a graveyard by ghosts. There's humor, mystery, and suspense in the book, and I believe adults would like this book as well. I give this book 5 stars! I hope you have a chance to check it out and enjoy it as much as I did.

Book Review Friday: Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry

Happy Friday!
Here is a YA book review by Savannah, age 13:

Book Title: Walk the Edge
Book Author: Katie McGarry
Star Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

"This book, Walk the Edge, is such a good book! It keeps you hanging onto every word. No matter what part you are at (in the book), it still keeps you going! This book can be (considered as) romantic or adventurist."

Pokemon of the Week: Snubbull

It seems that the folks at Niantic (the company that started Pokemon GO) launch their special events on Thursdays. I caught a few new Pokemon yesterday, including an adorable one that resembles a pink bulldog: Snubbull.

I caught Snubbull yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.

This pocket monster was easy to capture--I only had to throw a couple of Pokeballs to catch it. Snubbull is a Fairy-type of Pokemon, and its weaknesses are poison and steel. Although it is a cute pokemon, Snubbull uses intimidation to scare its opponents. Snubbull's other strengths are running away and stamina. Eventually, Snubbull can evolve into Granbull.

Also, there is another event going on in Pokemon GO: Adventure Week! Look for extra rock-type Pokemon and other cool bonuses (like a hat for your avatar) going on now through May 25.

Have a great weekend and happy Pokemon hunting!

I Am Groot!

I am a Guardians of the Galaxy fan, and Groot is one of my favorite characters. (Admittedly, I have grown fond of Rocket Raccoon, too.) Last weekend, Steve (my husband) and I watched Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2.

We were pleasantly surprised that the sequel was as good as the first movie. (That does not usually happen.) Baby Groot and Rocket Raccoon, along with all the other characters from the first movie are back: Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Nebula, Star-Lord, Yondu. (There are also new ones, but I do not want to give anything away.)

We have Guardians of the Galaxy books and music in our MCPL collection! In my opinion, the music in the movie is as terrific as the first one.

"I loved the book Come Back to Me.  It is a heart-filling book and very sweet, Kit (Riley's friend) can't hide his feelings for Jessa  (Riley's sister) anymore! In order to find out what happens in this AMAZING BOOK you'll have to read it."

Book Title: The Maze Runner

This book is a fun-filled mystery. There are different things coming left and right. Not only is this book good, but if you like adventure books this is your book!
