       June books have started arriving early!!  Here are just a few that you might like. More titles will be posted next week!

          In 2018, Elizabeth Acevedo's first book, The Poet X,  won so many awards that we can't even begin to count them. Now she is back with her second fiction book With The Fire On High.  Emoni Santiago has had a rough life- she has to make all the decisions for herself, Babygirl, and her grandmother.      Game Changer by Tommy Greenwald has an amazing cover and an amazing story. Was it football practice, or something else, that landed Teddy in the hospital? Can or will he ever play football again?

    In Strange Days, teen Alex Mata likes playing his guitar, writing songs, and skateboarding. He pretty much ignores all those wild stories around town about space aliens and invasions.  Until the day he comes home from school and  discovers that his parents have been murdered by the aliens. Now innocent Alex is on the run. His talent for sliding through time and seeing futures gives him the ability to be one of a group of teens who can save the earth from the aliens.Can Alex fall in love, defeat the space aliens, save the earth, and figure how who he can trust?   Immerse yourself in this science-fiction  book by Constance Singer.

So many  teen books being sold as movie rights!!!!! These are just a few:

  Future Movie Notes: The movie/Netflix rights to these books have been sold. Release dates will be in late 2019, 2020 or 2021 unless otherwise noted.

  The movie rights to Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi have been sold.

 Artemis Fowl series by  Eoin Colfer- movie will be released in theaters Summer 2019.

 Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw-  in development at Netflix.

 The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness (Book 1 of the Chaos Walking series)  The movie will star Daisy Ridley, Nick Jonas, and Tom Holland and will be released in 2020. The movie has been retitled "Chaos Walking".

What If It's Us by Becky Albertalli    Downloadable e-book   What if life isn't like a Broadway play? What if it is?

Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds.  "The Voice" judge John Legend will produce the movie version. The entire book takes place in one minute.


All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven.  The movie will star Justice Smith and Elle Fanning. Supporting cast members are an all-star cast as well, including Luke Wilson, Alexandra Shipp, and Keegan-Michael Key. Side Note: The book is set in Indiana.

Spontaneous by Aaron Starmer    The movie is in post-production and should be released soon. Katherine Langford has the starring role as Mara. Keep in mind the book is satire as you read. Currently on order for the Teen Department.

The Diabolic by S. J. Kincaid- Hunger Games plus Star Wars equals the most dangerous intergalactic  human weapon disguised as a Galaxy senator's daughter.

The Opposite of Always by Justin Reynolds- romance by a debut author.

On The Come Up by Angie Thomas. Just published.  Hopeful rap star's first song goes viral for all the wrong reasons. Angie Thomas not only wrote the book , she is going to help produce the movie.

There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins. Netflix movie. The book title says  it all. A perfect read for a stormy, rainy, windswept evening  Or not.

Are You There God? It's Me ,Margaret by Judy Blume.  For decades, Judy Blume refused to sell the movie rights to her most famous, groundbreaking book. Not anymore. Who should play Margaret?

   Miss Indiana Will Be Visiting On June 6th!!!!

      We are VERY excited to announce that the current reigning Miss Indiana, Lydia Tremaine of Kendallville, will be visiting the library on June 6 at 6: 30 p.m. She wants to meet you and your friends!!  She will be sharing her story of her middle school and high school years, as well as what it is like to compete in both the Miss Indiana and Miss America pageants! Lydia finished in the top 15 in the Miss America pageant and was the preliminary competition talent winner for her vocal abilities!!!  This is the first time a reigning Miss Indiana has ever visited Middlebury!!! Please welcome her on the evening of June 6th!!!!  This will be Lydia's last appearance as Miss Indiana before she crowns her successor during the week of June 8th.

     Summer Reading is almost here!!!! Everything is free- signup starts June 1st!!!!  There are lots of fun programs and events for you!! The theme this year is "A Universe Of Stories" to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing in July, 1969.  Visit  the traveling planetarium which will be at the library! Create arts and crafts items that you can take home with you, such as a treasure keeper, or a poured paint ceramic flowerpot, to name just two activity programs! Like to cook and bake? Learn how to create unusual quick snack items or different flavored smoothies!!   Enjoy "a  so bad it is almost good"  science fiction movie with cheesy dialogue, not so special effects,  and actors you have never heard of!!! Bring your friends and snarky sarcastic comments to the movie screening!!! (Ask your parents and grandparents what a TV show called Mystery Science Theatre 3000 was like!).  The full schedule of events and activities for teens will be posted on the back of your SRP (Summer Reading Program) card and on the teen section of our website!!


You requested more fiction books about hockey and we ordered them!!  Here are just a few of the new ones!!   Book 2 in the Juniper Falls hockey  series  by Julie Cross just arrived and is in processing. It will be ready soon. Book 1 and 3 are pictured below. Each book is a separate story. More hockey books are on the way!!
     If  there is a  book you want to read and we do not have it, you can request it at the main desk, and we will look into purchasing it or borrowing it from another library for you!
